UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco
UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco is home to some of the greatest pediatric physicians in the United States, with more than 150 experts in 50 different specialties. Their new facility at Mission Bay is the lone child-only hospital in San Francisco and was designed solely with young people in mind.
Their patients have distinct needs, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital is committed to meeting those needs at every turn. All rooms are filled with natural light and private so as to accommodate parents, family, and loved ones comfortably. Each room is also equipped with a multimedia wall designed to entertain patients while also keeping them connected with their friends, classmates, and teachers back home. There are also four acres of green space (allowing children to play with one another in the fresh air) as well as state-of-the-art playrooms, lounges, and activity rooms.
UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay
Mission Bay is dedicated to providing each of their patients and their families with excellent care and a welcoming environment that promotes comfort and healing. The facility itself is as much of a testament to healing as the providers who inhabit it.
A brand new, state-of-the-art hospital complex has been built with a focus on the patient experience at every step along the healthcare continuum. Each room has a bedside view, and the floors and ceilings are equipped with sound-absorbing technology to ensure peaceful and needed rest.
Furthermore, Mission Bay offers the latest in medical technology, including telemedicine, robotics, and intra-operative imaging. They’ve even allocated space in order to accommodate future advances. Furthermore, the complex itself incorporates the highest standards of patient safety, energy efficiency, seismic readiness, and environmental sustainability.
UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion
UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion was originally planned in 1887 and first opened its doors ten years later. It gradually became a significant research facility and officially merged with UCSF in 1990. Today, Mount Zion is dedicated to education, research, and patient care.
The complex serves as the primary UCSF hub for ambulatory care and is home to several outpatient clinics and surgery facilities. They offer support services for patients and their families alike. Additionally, UCSF’s Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Center of Excellence in Women’s Health all have locations at Mount Zion.
For patients with unique needs, Mount Zion offers interpreters in several languages and American Sign Language to accommodate those who speak limited English or who are living with speech or hearing issues. And for patients who are visually impaired, volunteer services offers free books on tape.
UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus
UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus is the original campus of UCSF Medical Center and offers both inpatient and outpatient services at their 15-story hospital, 600-bed hospital. In addition, the Ambulatory Care Center and the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute are both located at Parnassus.
A chapter of the UCSF Children’s Hospital is located at Parnassus as well as extensive research labs and the main Dental Center and Nursing Building. However, since Mission Bay opened in 2015, clinical care at Parnassus has focused on high-end adult surgical and medical services, including emergency medicine.
In February 2011, the Ray and Dagmar Dolby Regeneration Medicine Building was opened as the new headquarters of the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCSF. Designed by world-famous architect Rafael Vionly, the $123-million-dollar building was paid for by state and private funds and is intended to bring together some of the most accomplished scientists in the world from a diverse range of labs and disciplines. Their goal is to develop treatment strategies for myriad diseases and conditions, including birth defects, heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, and cancer.
