UnitedHealthcare

UnitedHealthcare (UHC) companies deliver healthcare services to roughly 115 million Americans each year. The company is committed to helping people live healthier lives and making the healthcare system work for everyone. To further this mission, UHC has targeted programs that guide its diverse members through their healthcare decisions and build healthcare literacy.

SignatureValue Advantage Plans Balance Cost and Access

UHC’s SignatureValue Advantage plans combine access to care with reasonable premiums and affordable out-of-pocket expenses. To reduce employer and members’ costs, Advantage plans offer managed healthcare through a limited network of high-quality physicians and hospitals, including the Canopy Health alliance. UHC tracks Advantage medical providers’ performance on 11 key measurements, including their commitment to preventive health, childhood immunization rates, and patient satisfaction.

Both small and large group employers can offer their staff these high-quality HMO plans. There are multiple deductible, co-pay, and premium combinations to choose from, giving employers even more flexibility when it comes to their healthcare benefit offerings. Some plan options do not include deductibles for medical care.

Employers can also choose between numerous prescription plans that include different co-pay and deductible structures. OptumRX, a leading prescription management service, coordinates all Advantage prescription benefits. Members can enjoy the convenience of mail-ordered prescriptions that are delivered to their doorstep or choose from thousands of retail pharmacy locations within the OptumRX network.

In addition to high-quality physicians, Advantage members also benefit from UHC’s disease and health management programs. These programs help members with chronic conditions (such as asthma, coronary artery disease, diabetes, and depression) by offering information and support. Pregnant members also have access to UHC’s Healthy Pregnancy Program. And Advantage members can access discounts for complementary health services, gym memberships, and other health-related products and services.

How Do SignatureValue Advantage Members Access the Canopy Health Alliance?

As an HMO plan, Advantage members must choose a primary care physician (PCP) who will oversee their healthcare. Based on the member’s unique healthcare needs, the PCP will make referrals to other network physicians and providers. When Advantage members choose a Canopy Health alliance PCP, they automatically become Canopy Health members.

Canopy Health’s provider groups currently include:

Additionally, Canopy Health members have access to more than 5,000 physicians, 18 hospitals, and numerous outpatient care and urgent care centers throughout the Bay Area.

Managed Care Improves Health Outcomes

Many people struggle with their healthcare decisions â€” especially when they’re faced with uncoordinated care and overwhelming options. Advantage plans streamline these processes by offering a robust network of quality physicians and offering managed care.

In a managed care relationship, a skilled PCP oversees your entire healthcare journey â€” diagnosing your conditions, making referrals, and fostering communication between your medical providers. This helps you avoid unnecessary treatment, make educated decisions, and avoid complications through preventive care.

When you work with a Canopy Health physician, this relationship is even more coordinated. We pride ourselves on human-focused care that aims to manage our members’ health and wellness â€” identifying your medical conditions, determining realistic health goals, and educating you about your options. We are also committed to transparency, explaining our members’ out-of-pocket costs and fostering healthcare literacy whenever possible.
