Timothy Judson, MD MPH Appointed Chief Clinical and Innovation Officer at Canopy Health

Emeryville, CA – April 15, 2024:  Canopy Health and UCSF Health are excited to announce a strategic collaboration in which UCSF will bring deep population health and data analytics expertise to Canopy’s daily operations.  Effective April 15, 2024, Timothy Judson MD MPH, UCSF’s Medical Director of Care Delivery Transformation, will join Canopy Health as the organization’s first Chief Clinical and Innovation Officer.  Dr. Judson will leverage a small team of UCSF experts to drive best-in-class care delivery for Canopy’s 40,000 HMO members.

The combined challenge of high patient demand for quality healthcare and limited physician access requires innovative models of care.  Under Dr. Judson’s leadership, Canopy will be pioneering the appropriate use of home-based care in an HMO setting so that patients and their families receive the right care with the least disruption to their lives.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to bring insights from my work at UCSF into the community setting.  Canopy Health is uniquely positioned to improve access to innovative and impactful care,” stated Dr. Judson, who will serve as a resource to the six leading medical groups serving Canopy Health patients including Hill Physicians, John Muir Medical Group, Providence Medical Group, Santa Clara County IPA, Meritage, and the Dignity Medical Group.

“Canopy welcomes this strong collaboration with the world-class experts at UCSF,” stated Ken Wood, Canopy’s CEO.  “Canopy is committed to assuring that our members get the right care, at the right time, and in the right place,” stated Wood.

Dr. Judson is a recognized leader in population health and virtual care, and will continue to serve as a hospitalist, urgent care physician and medical director at UCSF. By working in both the academic and community settings, he will be well-positioned to bring innovative care models and best practices to Canopy Health patients.

Canopy’s 40,000 patients range from newborns to centenarians – all deserving of access to high-quality, personalized care. Canopy’s embrace of predictive analytics means that patients with emerging needs can be identified and scheduled for timely care, including both virtual and face-to-face visits.
