Canopy Health, the innovative physician- and hospital-owned medical alliance, is expanding its network. Today, their executive team announced the addition of the Good Samaritan Health System, which includes Regional Medical Center of San Jose and Good Samaritan Hospital. These two facilities are partnered with the Santa Clara County Individual Practice Association (SCCIPA). Canopy Health has also added Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital and Dignity Health Medical Network — Sequoia, which are part of the Dignity Health network, to their growing alliance.
“Canopy Health is proud of its expanding alliance of top-rated hospitals and physicians,” said Canopy Health CEO Joel Criste in a statement. “The addition of Good Samaritan Health System and the physicians of Santa Clara County Individual Practice Association (SCCIPA), along with our expanding relationship with Dignity Health in San Mateo, creates access for patients circling the Bay, giving our members even greater access to trusted hospitals and specialists. We believe this expansion will help our members’ wellness and facilitate improved health outcomes.”
With this expansion, Canopy Health’s network now includes 18 Bay Area hospitals in eight counties. These new partnerships will significantly increase Canopy Health’s alliance from 4,000 physicians to nearly 5,000 — granting members even more options and access to primary and specialty care.
“This is another great example of Good Samaritan Health System expanding access to the patients of the San Jose community and surrounding areas,” said Joe DeSchryver, CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital. “We are committed to providing excellent care to the individuals we serve.”
“Forging partnerships to increase access to quality care is a key component of our mission,” said Todd Strumwasser, MD, senior vice president of operations for Dignity Health Bay Area. “On the Peninsula, the quality of care provided by Sequoia Hospital and Dignity Heath Medical Network — Sequoia is unparalleled.”
These additions will require the approval of the Department of Managed Health Care and enable Canopy Health to fulfill its mission to deliver refreshingly clear, human care for even more Bay Area residents. The expansion will also advance Canopy Health’s goals of championing health and advocating for Bay Area residents.
