As part of our 2018 expansion, Canopy Health is adding Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital to our alliance of nearly 5,000 physicians and hospitals. Sequoia Hospital will join two other exceptional Dignity Health hospitals in our commitment to refreshingly clear, human care.

Dignity Health Overview

Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986, Dignity Health is a not-for-profit healthcare organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area. While the organization has grown to include hospitals in multiple states, Dignity Health remains committed to delivering empathetic, patient-focused healthcare in our local communities. Currently, it is the largest not-for-profit hospital group in California and the fifth largest in the United States. It is also the official healthcare provider for both the San Francisco 49ers and Giants.

Canopy Health and Dignity Health’s missions are closely aligned. We both understand that while our members deserve the most advanced medical treatment, empathy and human-focused care lead to better health outcomes. We’re proud to include three of Dignity Health’s award-winning hospitals in our growing healthcare alliance.

Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital

Sequoia Hospital offers comprehensive healthcare services â€” from emergency care to advanced surgical options. Its Heart and Vascular Institute is a nationally recognized leader in advanced cardiac care and partners with the Cleveland Clinic. Its popular Birth Center is also a favorite among Bay Area families.

The hospital recently opened a new 104-bed pavilion offering cutting-edge medical technology along with empathetic, patient-focused care. Currently, its main hospital building is being remodeled, improving Sequoia Hospital’s emergency department and ensuring compliance with California’s seismic requirements.

Sequoia Hospital has won numerous awards for patient safety and its cardiac, surgical, and stroke services. Its stroke center is a certified Primary Stroke Center, and its joint replacement program is a designated Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement. Healthgrades consistently honors Sequoia Hospital, naming it one of America’s Best Hospitals for cardiac surgery three years in a row. The health rating organization also gave the hospital Five-Star ratings for valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) treatment, and gynecologic surgery. Just as importantly, Sequoia Hospital is frequently honored for its commitment to patient experience and safety.

Saint Francis Memorial Hospital

Saint Francis Memorial Hospital has been serving downtown San Francisco for over 100 years. Today, Saint Francis is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and has accreditations from the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for Adult Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation and Adult Inpatient Stoke Specialty Rehabilitation. The hospital has also won awards for hospital safety and its stroke and surgical programs.

Located on Nob Hill, it offers a wide variety of medical services, including emergency care, acute rehabilitation, and chronic pain management. The Saint Francis Orthopedic Institute offers cutting-edge and minimally invasive surgical options. The hospital is also home to the Bothin Burn Center, Northern California’s largest intensive burn unit.

St. Mary’s Medical Center

Saint Mary’s Medical Center is the oldest continuously operating hospital in San Francisco. Located across from Golden Gate Park, the facility’s diverse offerings include the country’s first digital cardiac catheterization program and award-winning orthopedic, spine, cancer, and rehabilitation programs.

Its specialty programs are regularly honored for their innovation and quality, including women’s health, cardiac, gastrointestinal, orthopedics, oncology, stroke, and critical care.  The hospital houses a Joint Commission Certified Stroke Center and is the only Bay Area hospital with the Commission’s Advanced Certification in Inpatient Diabetes Care. St. Mary’s Medical Center is also an American College of Radiology Center for Excellence and provides the most comprehensive breast imaging services in San Francisco.

The medical center also takes its commitment to caregiving seriously. St. Mary’s Medical Center has been nationally recognized for its commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety.
