Alameda Hospital is a member of our affiliate, Alameda Health System, and has been providing quality care for residents of the East Bay for well over 100 years. Today, they are leaders in emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and wellness services, and they sponsor wellness activities such as tai chi, yoga, fitness classes, and health fairs. Alameda Hospital has received the Gold Plus Target Stroke Elite Award from the American Stroke Association four years in a row, and free interpretation services are offered in 28 languages for all patients and their families.
With 236 beds, Highland Hospital is the largest campus within the Alameda Health System. Originally opened in 1927, Highland now houses a regional trauma center, as well as several Centers for Excellence ? including Maternity Services, Gastroenterology, and Geriatrics/Senior Care. Their Emergency Department receives more than 80,000 visits each year, and their designated trauma center is equipped to provide emergency services to everyone at all times, regardless of health insurance status.
John Muir Medical Center, Concord
Servicing Contra Costa and southern Solano counties, John Muir Medical Center, Concord is a 245-bed medical facility recognized as a preeminent center for cancer and cardiac care. This facility is also known for specializing in general surgery, orthopedics, and neurology. Additionally, by providing effective and timely care with improved outcomes for stroke patients, John Muir Medical Center, Concord has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for certification as a Primary Stroke Center.
John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek
U.S. News and World Report has recognized John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek as one of the premier medical facilities in the region, state, and nation for eight consecutive years. The hospital is designated as the only trauma center for Contra Costa County and parts of Solano County. Their specialties include high- and low-risk obstetrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, cardiac care, and rehabilitation. Additionally, John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek was recently recognized as a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement, as well as a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery.
Marin General Hospital
First opened in 1952, Marin General Hospital houses the only labor and delivery unit in Marin County and also receives 70% of the county’s ambulance traffic through their Level III Trauma Center and Emergency Department.
The hospital remains a major medical hub in Marin County, but as the population continues to expand rapidly, the need for a more innovative and technologically advanced campus has become apparent. Recognizing this need, they recently began construction on an entirely new campus that will include a four-story, 260,000 square-foot hospital replacement building; a five-story, 100,000 square-foot ambulatory services building; and a sizable parking structure.
San Leandro Hospital
Founded in 1960 by a group of community physicians, San Leandro Hospital became the newest member of the Alameda Health System in 2013. The hospital holds 93 patient beds and employs more than 100 employees and 40 physicians. The medical services they provide include 24-hour emergency services, rehabilitation services, critical care, and top-notch surgical teams. The Level II Emergency Department houses 13 beds, and the Critical/Intensive Care Unit houses 9 beds to provide care to individuals requiring serious medical treatment.
San Ramon Regional Medical Center
San Ramon Regional Medical Center first opened in 1990 and now includes 123 patient beds. The facility provides acute care to both inpatients and outpatients and has award-winning heart care programs, including surgery and rehabilitation. In 2015, San Ramon Regional Medical Center was awarded the highest possible grade in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group. And The Joint Commission recognized the hospital as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures in 2013 and 2014.
Sonoma Valley Hospital
Equipped with 75 patient beds, Sonoma Valley Hospital is a full-service acute-care hospital whose mission is to “maintain, improve, and restore the health of everyone in our community.” Medical services include The Birthplace of Sonoma Valley Hospital (which was recently recognized as one of the Top 33 “High Performing Hospitals” offering maternity care in California), cardiopulmonary services, surgical weight loss, rehabilitation services, and women’s health services (offering free mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women who live and work in Sonoma County).
UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Oakland
Named one of the “Best Children’s Hospitals” among 10 specialties by U.S. News and World Report for 2016-2017, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Oakland is one of the most prestigious pediatric hospitals in the United States. The hospital has been caring for the children of the Bay Area for more than 100 years and sees tens of thousands of patients each year. UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Oakland covers over 30 pediatric specialties, and the trauma center is one of only five ACS verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Centers in California. Further, nearly 80% of East Bay pediatricians who are on the “Best Doctors in America” list work at UCSF Children’s Hospital, Oakland. The research center also employees more than 300 scientists conducting 150 clinical trials, and they have developed universally-accepted protocols for treating cerebral palsy and sickle cell anemia.
UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco
UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco is home to over 150 world-class physicians practicing more than 50 specialties. As San Francisco’s only children’s hospital, the facility at Mission Bay was designed and built with children in mind. Each patient receives their own private, naturally-lit rooms with enough space to comfortably accommodate their friends and family. And in addition to state-of-the-art playrooms, lounges, and activity rooms, the hospital includes four acres of green space, allowing children the opportunity to enjoy their youth and innocence despite living with serious medical issues.
UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay
The newest hospital complex within the UCSF Medical Center, the Mission Bay campus leverages the latest in telemedicine, robotics, and intra-operative imaging to provide the best possible care throughout the healthcare continuum. In addition to Benioff Children’s Hospital, San Francisco, the campus also includes the Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital (one of the first facilities designated a National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health) and the Bakar Cancer Hospital ? the only National Cancer Center-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Bay Area. The UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay also includes numerous outpatient facilities to support the care they are providing for women, children, and cancer patients.
UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus
The original campus of UCSF Health, UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus is a 15-story hospital that includes the Ambulatory Care Center and Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. The campus is also home to the main Dental Center and Nursing Building. Since the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay opened in 2015, the Parnassus complex has been more focused on adult surgical and medical services, especially emergency medicine. And in 2011, the Ray and Dagmar Dolby Regeneration Medicine Building was opened with the goal of developing new and innovative treatment strategies for numerous diseases and conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, birth defects, and cancer.
Washington Hospital originally opened in 1958 and is also a UCSF Health affiliate. Their specialty service areas include pediatric surgery, radiation oncology, and wound and hyperbaric medicine, among many others. The 341-bed acute-care hospital has received several awards from Healthgrades in recent years, including the Joint Replacement Excellence Award, Distinguished Hospital Award, and Patient Safety Excellence Award. As the hospital now serves a population of more than 350,000 residents, they are currently in the second phase of a major upgrade to their infrastructure, which will include expanded Emergency Room and Critical Care Units.
