  • Top General Hospital (2016) and “A” Grade for Hospital Safety (Fall 2016) — The Leapfrog Group
    The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit hospital watchdog organization, recognized Marin General Hospital as one of its Top Hospitals. This elite national distinction is only given to hospitals that rank among the top 3% in the nation in patient safety and quality as well as administrative efficiency. In addition, in October 2016, the Leapfrog Group awarded Marin General Hospital an “A” grade in safety — a designation given to only 844 hospitals out of the 2600 evaluated.
  • Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence (2016) — Healthgrades
    In 2016, for the third year in a row, Marin General Hospital received the Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. Only the top 5% of hospitals nationwide are eligible to receive this award. In addition, Healthgrades named Marin General Hospital as one of America’s Best 100 Hospitals for Cardiac Care.   • “Get with The Guidelines” Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award (2016) — American Heart/Stroke Association, and Primary Stroke Center Certification (2014) — The Joint Commission
    Marin General Hospital received re-certification in 2014 from the Joint Commission for its stroke program and, in 2016, for the sixth year in a row, received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s “Get with The Guidelines” Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. These voluntary programs are designed to elevate the standard of care for stroke programs and boost community confidence.
  • Three-Year Echocardiography Accreditation (2015-2018) — Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC)
    The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) has granted Marin General Hospital a three-year accreditation in Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Transesophageal, Adult Transthoracic, and Adult Stress.
  • Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation (2014-2017) — Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS)
    For the third time in a row, the Cancer Institute at Marin General Hospital received an Accreditation with Commendation from the CoC, which is the commission’s highest level of recognition. In addition, the Cancer Institute earned Gold-level designation and the CoC’s Outstanding Achievement Award by exceeding all seven standards of care that the commission evaluates.
  • Top Performer on Key Quality Measures (2015) and Gold Seal of Approval (2013-2016) — The Joint Commission
    The Joint Commission’s Top Performer on Key Quality Measures program recognizes accredited hospitals that attain an excellent level of performance in accountability measures, while the Gold Seal of Approval is a three-year accreditation that recognizes a hospital’s compliance with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards for quality and safety. To earn the Gold Seal of Approval designation, Marin General Hospital submitted to rigorous, unannounced on-site surveys conducted by a team of Joint Commission experts.
  • Chest Pain Center Accreditation (2017-2020) — Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC)
    The SCPC is an international nonprofit organization that works to transform cardiovascular care. The group accomplishes this mission by helping facilities create cardiovascular centers of excellence that deliver quality care and patient satisfaction in a cost-sensitive environment.

    Blue Shield of California has recognized Marin General Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center in the fields of Spine Surgery as well as Knee and Hip Replacement. This designation verifies that Marin General Hospital demonstrates expertise in delivering quality specialty care, places an emphasis on patient health and safety, and provides superior outcomes for both spine surgery and knee and hip replacement.
  • Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (2014-2017) — American College of Radiology (ACR)
    The ACR has designated Marin General Hospital as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. This award recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the college’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules as well as its mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
  • Accreditation for Continuing Medical Education (2016–2020) — California Medical Association Institute for Medical Quality
    The California Medical Association Institute for Medical Quality has awarded Marin General Hospital a four-year Accreditation for Continuing Medical Education for the period of March 1, 2016 through February 1, 2020. This means that physicians who attend CME courses offered by Marin General Hospital meet the Medical Board of California’s Division of Licensure requirements for physician licensure and the California Medical Association’s Certification in Continuing Medical Education.
